Bypassing the Sentient First Door
Upon entering the realm, players encounter a sentient doorway that refuses entry unless you closely resemble The Forgotten. To trick this magical guardian, explore the room and clear away the surrounding Night Thorns to uncover hidden wardrobes. Inside these cabinets, you will find a cardboard crown and cardboard wings to equip from your wardrobe menu.
Once your character is properly dressed in these items, speak with the door again to prove your identity. The guardian will acknowledge your appearance and swing open, allowing access to the higher levels of the castle. Be sure to collect any memory shards scattered around the floor before moving forward.
Preparing Doorine's Preferred Recipe
Ascending the stairs brings you to the second floor, where another picky door guardian named Doorine blocks the path. A nearby note reveals that this door demands a fresh, well-seasoned meal made exclusively from ingredients found within the castle grounds. Crucially, the recipe must remain completely garlic-free to satisfy the guardian's unique appetite.
Gather one Dark Castle Lettuce, one Thorn Sprout, and one unit of Dreamlight Salt from the floor. Combine these three items at the nearby cooking station to prepare a Night Thorn Sprout Salad. Present this completed dish to Doorine, who will happily devour it and unlock the next chamber.
Uncovering the Invisible Door with the Mechanical Eye
Reaching the third area presents an unusual obstacle: an empty archway with no physical door in sight. Reading the clue left on the nearby note reveals that you must view the space through a mechanical eye to reveal what is hidden. This clue refers directly to your in-game Royal Camera tool.
Pull out your camera and frame the blank space under the glowing green wall markings. Snapping a quick photograph will immediately cause the hidden doorway to materialize in front of you. Walk through the newly revealed entrance to approach the final barrier of the Dark Castle.
Solving the Torch Alignment and Unlocking the Final Door
The top floor of the Dark Castle is encased in ice and sealed by a heavily locked door. To obtain the key frozen inside the central well, players must retrieve four elemental torches scattered across the balcony. Use your Royal Pickaxe to shatter small ice blocks around the room to collect all four torches.
Place the torches onto the pedestals around the well corresponding to the cycle of the sun and moon: Dawn, Noon, Dusk, and Night. Correctly arranging all four torches melts the ice block in the well and drops the key into the water below. Equip your Royal Fishing Rod to fish up the Dark Castle Key and open the final door to confront The Forgotten.
